Friday Bliss #183 - Longing for the Summer!

I have told you about our visit to Kustavi last summer. We stayed at the summer cottage of DH’s daughter Nana. The place is on the seaside and the views over the sea are very peaceful and beautiful. They have there the old cottage with sauna, a boathouse and a new cottage built two years ago. It is a cape with a lot of granite cliffs in sight - that I love.

At the summer cottages we Finns have mostly outdoor toilets called huussi!
Nana and Sami have a brand new one.

Unfortunately their brown Tibetan terrier Sisu died a couple weeks ago
and the black Milo is now alone.

Me and DH did there some gardening jobs. Among other things made
this small planting with Stachys bysantina and Physocarpus opulifolius ’Diablo’
and some low spireas - all seedlings from my garden.
On the shore there was a rotten salix where tens of Vanessa atalantas lived!
They looked stunning in the warm evening sun. Somehow I am not able to upload the video.

Last weekend we celebrated the 50th birthday of Nana and the 18th birthday of her son Anton.
Anton here in a black t-shirt. Essi hugged her aunt.

Looking longingly forward to the summer.
Thank you for the all lovely comments last week. Wishing you a bright & sunny winter weekend!

    1. Hello Eva,
Your translation is good, thank you for that. Allthough I read German as well, but of course not all visitors of my blog…

I miss the spring of course first! I want all this snow to melt and the sidewalks safe to walk, without ice. Then I want the temperatures to rise near to +20C and sunshine would be great, too 😃😊😃

    1. Thank you Nova for your nice comment. It is a beautiful sunny morning in Finland. The kittens are quiet too… and DH is sleeping because he has a strong cough, not feaver though. An ordinary flu or Coronavirus, he has not yet made the test. I am ok. Warm hugs & lovely weekend.

  5. Liebe Riitta,

    1. Losing a pet is always tragic. Sisu had some kind of heart disease and was on medication. But then he started to get seazures and other severe problems. There was nothing to do, Sisu was 8 years. A great, great sorrow for the family.

Thank you for your caring comment ❤️ Wishing a sunny weekend.

    1. The world situation is so unstable and dangerous. I wish the US, EU and Nato find an efficient way to support Ukraine and defeat Putin’s Russia. Warm greetings over to you Pia.

    1. Thank you Linda. DH is better today after 5 days of coughing. It is covid most certainly but he is too stubborn to make a home test! The main thing is that he is recovering. Wishing a sunny weekend.

  10. Dear Riitta,
given these beautiful memories, I'm not surprised that you're longing for summer! The place where the cottages (and the pretty huussi ;-DD) are located is simply gorgeous - this is pure Finnish summer and brings back fond memories of the trip to Hailuoto and my days in Kemijärvi! How sad that cute Tibetan terrier Sisu crossed the rainbow bridge and Milo is now alone. I hope he's not too sad and lonely. But it looks like he has a big human "pack"? Congratulations (belated) to all birthday "girls and boys"!
I wish you a wonderful weekend!
    All the best,
    Traude

    1. I have had this garden for 20 years and the plants selfseed and spread and need dividing. I have donated a lot of plants to our three children who have a garden or summer cottage.

    1. Hi Lydia,

Now the regulations on waste water are tightened and people have had to build special sewage systems at their summer cottages, too. This outdoor toilet collects the urine and feces, nothing is let in the nature - and that is good!
