1. THE FINNSHEEP |
I made a day trip to the countryside in August and visited a sheep farm. The breed is called Suomenlammas / Finnsheep. Finnsheep is the original Finnish sheep breed that has adapted to the hard Nordic climate over several thousand years. It is an integral part of Finnish history, culture and identity.
The sheep were so cute! On this farm they are grown for wool not for meat. Finnsheep are usually white, but can also be brown or black. They give birth to numerous lambs at a time, their wool is soft and excellent and they are healthy & well adapted to our cold climate.
