Friday Bliss #209 - Garden Views of the Week

My autumn asters, Symphyotrichum novi-belgii, are still small plants, but they spread eagerly. 

I replant root sprouts to suitable places. Here in front of our terrace. Autumn is in the air 

and finally we got some good rain! I hope this rain will help trees and my plants to survive.

Daughter M & her husband helped DH to carry all terrace furniture to shelter and 

all potted seedlings were planted. No stress whatsoever, the autumn may come!

 

I like very much the lime colour of Humulus lupulus ’Aureus’.

It spreads eagerly and I grow new plants from its root sprouts.

Previously here was growing a beautiful pale violet Clematis Emilia Plater,

but unfortunately it disappeared years ago. Now this wild humulus replaces it.

At the background you see how my small lawn has suffered from the draught.

Plums are ripening. 

I used a small bowl as decoration for a book cover photo for my book blog.

Every day joy on the kitchen table is offered by this simple autumn arrangement.

The white Phalaenopsis has been in bloom for over two months ❤︎

Friday Bliss #200 - Kalle’s Birthday

Last Saturday we celebrated grandson Kalle’s 18th birthday having a lunch at restaurant

La Famiglia.  Sadly two families were missing at the party - the other on vacation,

the other sick. In the photo my husband’s eldest daughter Sanna and her children Kalle and Noora, 

the future mother. The baby is due in November ❤︎

I have a bit shorter haircut this summer. In the lower part DH’s daughter Milla

with her husband Timo, chef by profession and he used to work at this restaurant for four years.

I bought this white Phalaenopsis for Christmas and now it is blooming again ❤︎

It is very beautiful on the kitchen window sill and fortunately the kittens let it be. 

Anyhow it is not poisonous.

I read or listen to audiobooks every night. The audiobook offer of the summer are either 

romantic novels or detective stories. I prefer the latter. I warmly recommend the thrillers of 

Alice Feeney - they are thrilling, excellent English and readers are outstanding.

Hildur by Finnish Satu Rämö took me to exotic Iceland. Satu is married to an Icelandic guy 

and lives at the moment in Northern Iceland. Earlier Satu has written many non fiction books 

about Iceland. Then I found Spanish María Oruña’s detective stories and am now

listening to the first one.

Friday Bliss #166 - Plantagen Visit

Recently I visited Plantagen. There were of course masses of green & blooming plants

added with Christmas decorations. Christmas is coming!

I did not buy for myself, but admired these fabulous blooming Medinilla plants.

For myself I bought a beautiful white Phalaenopsis that I shared last week.

I enjoyed to see all the Christmas decorations, even if I don’t need anything new.

I bought only a window star with lights but these snowmen and girl elves were cute indeed!

A lot of fairy lights can be seen in the neighbourhood.

Friday Bliss #165 - Flawless Beauty

Recently I bought myself this fabulous Phalaenopsis orchid at Plantagen.

It stands on the kitchen table and brings joy to every day life.

I put the plant in a glass bowl and decorated with sea shells.

I think it looks gorgeous.

Green weekend

My German blog friend Mascha has this new meme - Color go hope. It's all about the color green. At the moment outside there is no green except conifers. Therefore I searched through my archives some random greenish photos.

Pyhäinpäivän tunnelmia

Kissani Sissi on vatsaongelmainen ja syö kaiken vihreän sisällä, joten kukaton ja kasviton olen. Päästäkseni Pyhäinpäivän tunnelmiin suuntasin kukkakauppaan juhlatunnelmaa hakemaan.

Rekolan Kukkatalo on täyden palvelun kukkakauppa Itä-Vantaalla. 

Erityisesti ihailin näitä Phalaenopsis-orkideoita. Sielussa riipii kun en voi kotiin hankkia. 

Itse pidän erityisesti limenvihreistä ja valkoisista orkideoista.

Haudalle vietäväksi löytyi hyvin callunoita sekä havu- ja jäkäläkransseja. 

Myös hautakynttilä- ja lyhtyvalikoimaa oli paljon.

Ja sitten nämä enkelit! Aivan ihania - monessa koossa ja monin ilmein.

Kun en voi joulukukkia hankkia, taidanpa satsata enkeleihin.

ENGLISH SUMMARY

All Saints Day is more important in Finland than Halloween.

We go to the graveyards with wreaths, callunas and candles and 
visit each other for lunch or dinner.

As many of you know I can't have any flowers or house plants because of my cat Sissi.

Therefore I went to a nice florists' shop to get in the mood.

And really found a lot of eye candy. 
Especially the Phalaenopsis orchids were beautiful.

Then I loved their many angels and think to buy them 
in the Christmas time to compensate flowers.

I was as amazed as this tiny angel - Flowers are a joy!
