Friday Bliss #199 - Bloomers of the Week

Hello dear blog friends,
Sorry for visiting your last week’s links so late. The reason is that I have been busy with
many summer & garden projects, visitors & gettogethers. I’ll try to be more prompt this week.
It has been hot and very dry, watering necessary every evening.
But now that my husband bought himself a new TOY - i.e. a good sprinkler,
he has taken the responsibility of watering - and that is great.
Have you noticed that men always need new toys in order to get
enthusiastic at any household jobs? That is the case at least in my family.
Yesterday we got a bit of rain and I felt blessed. So funny that one can rejoice of rain!
In the garden pink & white theme continues. First two unknown peony varieties.

Spiraea japonica ’Odensala’ blooms in fluffy pink.
This shrub spreads eagerly and out of 2-3 shrubs I have got tens of them.

Clematis recta ’Atropurpurea’ looked fantastic this year!
It grows shrub-like and needs a support, preferably some shrub.
Here it covers a structure of rebar network.
But then came a disaster in form of a strong wind and many of the delicate stems got broken.

Pink Lilium martagon blooms in many places.
Here in a flower bed with Gillenia trifoliata.

There is a hint of blue as well - campanulas are in bloom.
Probably this wonderful lilac Campanula latifolia is a crossbreed of blue and white.

I made a casual bouquet with Campanula persicifolia and stormtorn Clematis recta.
It looked airy, as picked up on a summer meadow.

Wishing you wonderful & sunny July days!

Friday Bliss #198 - Romantic in Pink & Fluffy in White

Garden queens of the week are fluffy & butterfly-like Gillenia trifoliata in white,
scented pink peony Edulis Superba and the very high rosa Norwegian rose Hurdal.

With these two beauties I made a quick and easy floating arrangement
for our terrace table. In this heat it did not last long, but was nice as long as it lasted.

The Hurdal rose is very high, about five meters and it grows among thujas and
spreads charming forest feel. As it is so high, not the easiest to photograph.
With the tag hurdal you’ll find photos from the previous summers.

This cute cat neighbour visits us now and then and likes to sleep in my flower bed.
We give him / her water & a bit of dry food. My cats consider this furry visitor an intruder,
that is why we don’t let them get near each other & fight.

Wishing you a wonderful first weekend of July!

Garden Mix Early July

Some impressions of blooming plants at the beginning of July.
The weather is warm, sunny & so nice, but the garden needs desperately rain.
Lilium martagon blooms in many spots. Here behind them the butterfly like
Gillenia trifoliata. I have two big plants of them and they look really nice.

Clematis recta blooms abundantly and I noticed that it is very lasting in bouquets.
Clematis Petit Faucon blooms not very abundantly,
but its deep blue color is stunning and it makes beautiful seedheads.
Meconopsis betonicifolia is at the end of its blooming which was nice this year.

Get a Laugh!

My blog friend Kirsti shared things she is fascinated with - cultivating & preserving and books.
My fascination is photographing and reading, of course, as you know.
Photos don’t always turn up great, although I seldom share my unsharp shots.
But now be the time - get a laugh!

These are traditional - not highly breeded -  delphiniums whose advantage is
that they stay upright without support. That compensates the small flowers.
I have got these from a plant swap, the darker colour is not yet in bloom.

These delphiniums grow in a long flower bed beside our garage, the absolute star
right now being Gillenia trifoliata, whose common name in Finnish is
Butterfly spiraea. And indeed, tiny butterflies they are!

Have a happy day & keep smiling even if it is a rainy day in Finland!

Floral Bliss #78

This week I am in a romantic mood. My garden assistant picked me some
Louise Odier, Campanula persicifolia, Stachys byzantina and Gillenia trifoliata
Here is the small bouquet, photographed by me & hubby.
And only three flowers of Louise O made the whole house smell divine ❤︎

Tällä viikolla romanttisissa tunnelmissa. Puutarha-assistenttini poimi

- For future use in literature bloposts.
