Floral Bliss #73

Pterocarya rhoifolia - Japaninsiipipähkinä
The Garden Princess  right now is undoubtedly our old apple tree. It looks fabulous and is full of white blooms - I could admire it forever! There are apple blossom photos in two previous posts - look here & here. Today mainly some other white impressions. Also my modest cherry & plum trees are blooming, lilacs burst these days in full bloom - and so does my long white blooming Spiraea chamaedryfolia hedge. So I have here a beautiful white blooming Hanami ❤︎

Apple Blossoms by Eino Leino

OMENANKUKAT
Mun onneni kukkii kuin omenapuu
kevät-öissä valoisissa,
kun kuusten latvat ne kumartuu
ja immet on unelmissa.

Ne yöt pari ympäri helluntain,
ne yöt on suuret ja syvät
ja silloin jos ei tule tuuli vain,
niin kypsyvät heelmät hyvät.

Oi, antaos taivas tyyntä nyt,
jos sitten sa annatkin muuta!
Oi, varjele Luojani vakainen
nyt orvon omenapuuta!
- Eino Leino -

APPLE BLOSSOMS
My happiness blooms like an apple tree
in the light spring nights,
when spruce tops are bowing down
and maidens are deep in their dreams.

Those few nights around Pentecost,
those nights are grand and profound,
if only no wind came to blow,
the craved good fruit would ripen.

Oh Heaven, let it be placid now,
even if later You give us other!
Oh mighty Lord, protect now
the apple tree of an orphan!
- Eino Leino -

To finish with some photos of the tree: packed with blooms
❤︎
Lopuksi pari kuvaa itse puusta: tupaten täynnä kukkia!

Floral Bliss #10

It is still early for the Japanese Hanami, but somehow
I got an irresistible desire to look at my White Hanami from last year.
My Hanami is of course fake and very modest:
with one cherry tree, one big apple tree and a few plums you can't expect too much.

But last May they bloomed like never before!
All were so full of blossoms, I was impressed of their beauty.

My one and only apple tree - very old

Cherry - Kirsikka

Prunus sylvatica - Pin Cherry  - Pilvikirsikka

Plum - Luumu

Lilacs were blooming at the same time

Olet sydämellisesti tervetullut mukaan!

Five on Friday

I'll list again five things of my week and link with Amy's Five on Friday. Take time to peek what the others have been up to. The link is at the bottom of the post.

1 Strawberries & painting the house
I promised to eat strawberries in the summer with whipped cream - a lot. Started this week with imported from Spain. The Finnish strawberries are not yet ripe.

We have to paint the house. We made 3 proof paintings on the wall and could make up our minds. A big job ahead, mainly for the hubby.

2 The scent of lilacs!
Lovely weather and sun the whole week! Yesterday we got a good rain and I was very happy with it... My lilac hedgerows are in full bloom and the scent is fabulous. Mainly I have purples but some whites and pinks as well.

Wenn der weisse Flieder wieder blüht is an old German schlager that tells about white lilacs. On Youtube you can listen the Finnish version by a pretty famous Olavi Virta.

3 Apple blossom petals raining
Our only & old apple tree was packed with flowers and now the petals are raining down. Looks rather pretty.

4 Roland Garros
Not any surprising results yet. Hoping for good & tight matches. I need this rest because my back is complaining...

5 Coming next week - Flower Wednesday
I'll host this linkup starting the 1st of June. I think this does not compete with Five on Friday because the idea is different. The linkup is the place to share your beautiful flower photos for others to admire - you are most welcome to participate!

Have a lovely weekend!

Omppupuun lumoa

Mukavaa viikonloppua!

Apple Blossoms - Happy!

Apple Blossoms
Of all the months that fill the year,
Give May’s month to me,
For earth and sky are then so filled
With sweet variety.

The apple-blossoms’ shower of pearl
Though bent with rosier hue,
As beautiful as woman’s blush,
As evanescent too.

On every bough there is a bud,
In every bud a flower;
But scarcely bud or flower will last
Beyond the present hour.

Now comes a shower-cloud o’er the sky,
Then all again sunshine;
Then clouds again, but brightened with
The rainbow’s coloured line.

Ay, this, this is the month for me:
I could not love a scene
Where the blue sky was always blue,
The green earth always green.
(Letitia E. Landon, 1802-1838)
I found this beautiful poem in the blog of Ellen.
Thank you!

PS
I replaced the month of April with May because it is
the month of Apple Blossoms in Finland.
