Friday Bliss #196 - Alliums & Pink Aquilegias

Alliums and aquilegias are blooming in the garden and in my simple bouquet. 

In addition I’ll share some garden views.

The sunny lime shrub is Berberis thunbergii 'Aureum’ which gets greener

later in the summer. 

Beside our garden pond I have hostas & alliums & this clematis tower.

There are also peonies, still in bud.

Behind pink rhododenron ’Haaga’ that suffered from the draught of last summer.

Garden Week Mostly in Purple

This week has been characterized by strong wind and chilly weather.

After the hot & sunny May we are back to normal :)

The DRAUGHT is severe and many plants suffer despite of watering.

Rhododendron Catawbiense  'Roseum Elegans' or 'Grandiflorum'

I have only two rhododendrons and they are really sad looking in this draught.

Some blooms anyhow, this puple is Catawbiense 'Roseum Elegans' or 'Grandiflorum'.

The shrub is big and old, I do hope it survives.

Cornus alba 'Gouchhaultii' - Keltakirjokanukka

I have blue & dark purple pansies in five containers together with lime mummularia...

Somehow alliums are far less and smaller than last year, and also many aquilegias seem to have disappeared.

Plantago media is a fun plant that I like very much. It self sows eagerly in odd places...

But despite the weather I have found this and that to do in my outdoor gym.

Enjoy the summer despite the weather!

Floral Bliss #75

For this week's Floral Bliss I made a quick fantasy bouquet in contrasting colors - yellow and purple. I used a few Hemerocallis, Allium & Rhododendron 'Catawbiense Grandiflorum'. As greens Stachys byzantina. It was a bit too sunny on my terrace, and the background is not the best possible.

Tein iloksenne korkean kimpun kontrastiväreissä - keltaista & violettia: puistoalppiruusua 'Catawbiense Grandiflorum', alliumeja, keltapäivänliljaa ja nukkapähkämöä. Aurinkoista oli tänäänkin terassilla!

Green Happiness

Hosta 'Halcyon' is my favourite - low with beautiful grey green leaves

This week we have got sun and rain. Everything grows so vigorously.

I love different shapes of leaves and different shades of green, the blooms are not that important.

I gathered here some examples of my wild garden = my green happiness ❤︎

Spiraea japonica’Goldmound’ would not need any of its pink flowers!

The yellow Meconopsis cambrica self seeds wherever it likes!
On the foreground Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans'

Veratrum viride - Viherpärskäjuuri

This long flower bed is a bit empty for I have donated plants to my daughter

Late on Thursday evening there was this fantastic double rainbow ❤︎

I have never seen this great and the light was absolutely surreal on the tree tops.

There is going to be some blooming too!

Happy week!

All in Purple

My old Rhododendron 'Roseum elegans' is starting to bloom.

A broadleaf evergreen shrub, Rhododendron Roseum Elegans makes a great selection 

for those moist, shaded locations. It has large leaves in hues of dark green and 
large clusters of flowers that bloom lilac-pink, opening in May and are hard to beat!

So are Allium 'Purple Sensation'...

Then I found this tiny aquilegia seedling, in purple too.

Also Osteospermums are starting to bloom...
