Happy Finnish Spring?

World Happiness Report has announced that Finland was again - for the 4th consecutive year -
the happiest country in the world. The ten happiest countries are: Finland 🇫🇮 Denmark 🇩🇰
Switzerland 🇨🇭Iceland 🇮🇸 Netherlands 🇳🇱 Norway 🇳🇴 Sweden 🇸🇪 Luxembourg 🇱🇺
New Zealand 🇳🇿 Austria 🇦🇹. I agree, Finland is a good and peaceful country, but our climate
could indeed be better. At the moment it is snowing wet snow.

On Thursday I visited the charming gift shop Koiramäen pajutalli and this is how it looked:
Still a lot of snow, but clear sky and sun and very sharp shadows.
This used to be a normal farm house with stalls and sheds painted in red, which is typical Finnish.
It is a lovely place to visit any time of the year and I always admire their huge trees.
Easter decorations were displayed in the white main building. Due to the pandemic
me and my husband were the only clients. So sad.

As we were the only customers, we could admire in peace their lovely Easter items.
A great assortment to every taste. I found these royal chickens so cute!

Wishing Happy Weekend!

Friday Bliss #118 - Visit to Koiramäen pajutalli

A December visit to gift shop Koiramäen pajutalli is a must.
The atmosphere is charming and they have lovely items of willow for sale.
I popped inside the main building only for a few minutes, because of the coronavirus danger
and therefore took only a couple of photos there.
But the buildings & stalls on the courtyard offered a lot to see.

This high metal jug appealed to me, so I had to buy it!
More photos of my red amaryllis next week.

This Mr. Owl looks very wise, doesn’t he!

They have the shelves full of lovely present items.

Wishing a great Advent time!!

Contrasting Colors at Koiramäen pajutalli

A few words about Lysimachia mummularia ’Aurea’ - Golden Creeping Jenny / Pfenningkraut.
This lime green variety does not spread as furiously as the green version.
In my garden this plant spends the winter planted in the ground and every spring
I dig some of it to summer flower pots. I like the color and its ability to ’creep’!

Koiramäen pajutalli’s summer decorations pleased me very much.
Some of the red geraniums are fake, but red & lime green make a splendid contrast.

This is from my garden. The pink petunias have bloomed the whole summer like crazy!

Friday Bliss #78 - Touch of Easter

Last weekend I went to see Koiramäen Pajutalli’s Easter decorations. It is a charming gift shop
in a rural & nostalgic environment. No snow, as you can see. I bought myself this cute swinging
bunny and a few tiny nests with eggs. I love earthy tones and don’t want to have too many
decorations at Easter either. Maybe I still want to buy one of their beautiful Easter wreaths!

Also this dragonfly of mirror looked very tempting!

T in die neue Woche

First Advent opens the door to Christmas.
These rustic views are from Koiramäen pajutalli, in English Dog Hill Wicker Stall
- a charming present shop in a nostalgic environment.

ADVENT CALENDAR, DEC 1:
Santa is our culture's only mythic figure truly believed in
by a large percentage of the population.
It's a fact that most of the true believers are
under eight years old, and that's a pity.

Friday Bliss #64 - Christmas is Sneaking

Christmas is already all over. Last week I visited two garden centers and Koiramäen pajutalli
that is a charming present shop located in an old environment.
The northern part of Finland got new snow, here the ground is still bare.
The positive side is that it is not slippery when doing my daily Nordic Walkings.

This puff plum pastry is very typical pastry during Christmas time in Finland.
They are usually star-shaped and we call them JOULUTORTTU, delicious with coffee or even glögg.

At Koiramäen pajutalli’s stall there were even two Christmas pigs snoaring!
The smell was not nice, I can tell you :)) But kids love them.

This big amaryllis pot looked fabulous at a garden center. Maybe it is at its best
at this stage. I am not sure if the flowers have enough space to open.

My white Christmas cactus is ridiculously small :))

This was a nostalgic photography book showing how Finland was in the 1950s.
A tip for the Finnish Santas!

A bunch of book bloggers were invited to YLE, Finnish Broadcasting Company.
Yle has a poetry award called Dancing Bear and we were the ones who read  the nominees
and blogged about them. I am in the back row, in the middle.
