Autumn Leaves Digitally

In my blog Digi Passions I take part in a monthly art challenge. 

In September our theme is FIFTY:

Free interpretation: this can be not only a number, but also time, distance,

weight, height, area, volume, temperature, speed, price, age and other interpretation.

I’ll show you the first three works, still three to do.

How many times does 50 go to infinity?

No idea, but soon the leaves shall be flying in the autumn storm.

Infinitely?

50 trees are the beginning of a forest.

This is a contemporary person’s nightmare: be thrown back to the 50s without

smartphone nor internet. In a cafe you had to talk to the other.

Bold fabrics, dots and ginham were in. The pair borrowed from online, all else by me.

Somehow to me the atmosphere has something similar to the great

Nighthawks by Edward Hopper from 1942.

Strange Grooves

With two faces in the whirlpool of a skyscraper,
silence being a strange concept.
Painted lips on the walls,
the gaze searching for an exit.
Lull me mum, lull me,
I still believe in tomorrow.

The fire leaves only ashes.

Before the Helsinki Book Fair I’ll show you how to circle publishers’ catalogs. Colorful catalogs are not just waste, but can be used for artistic purposes, as I did. I made four collages with a size of 20 x 20 cm, style being cut & glue. The finished collages still received a photo manipulation. They inspired my blog friend Esther Helmiä to write a poem on each.

Runot suomeksi täällä.

I run,
I run with winds of achieving behind.
I cry alone to the dark: I don’t manage, I don’t manage!
No one answers.
Colorful walls are my friends
and those who tap me on the back:
Try try, be better, be good!
Be beautiful, don’t be you, don’t be!

The steps mix blood and sweat,
but my soul is already detached.

You are so silent, illusion, illusion.
A ragged smoke curtain a protection against the tough world.
Your beauty is exhaled from the rocks, from the deep caverns. 
Have you already decomposed or is this a hallucination?
With pink eyeglasses on my nose
I’ve lost yesterday.

How daring, you would say
handing me poppies as breakfast.

Blood still flowing
gives color to the walls.
I see a drunken cat with the eyes of my soul,
it lives at its own pace, does not care.
I hear steps from the street,
the pain labours in the waves of suffering souls.
There is no one to see
who would gather hearts.

Maybe it's too mundane
in this all-allowing world.

I’m not able to reach your hand anymore.

Friday Bliss #5

Today I’ll repost this September bouquet from two years back

My week has flied. Did a bit reading, watched ATP tennis and made some digital art.

ATP TENNIS - SHANGHAI MASTERS

The Swiss Roger Federer has had an incredible career. At the age of 37 his ranking is 2. 

In the last year’s final in Shanghai he beat Rafael Nadal,

who is not participating this year.  Today are quarter finals and Federer meets

Kei Nishikori, 27 years, ranking 12. Very exciting!

DIGITAL ART

In my art group our topic for October is wood and/or fire. 

This is how I see end of love and book burning:

In the group there are skilful artists, for me making art is only my modest hobby.

Our great celebration is on December the 6th.

Tedious Week!

This has been a tedious week, but I'm trying to sum up my five.

1. WEATHERWISE no news.
Very cold and a bit of new snow everyday. Every night below zero. So ridiculous!
Practically no progress in the garden - only tiny blues...

THE BEST SHORT STORY COLLECTIONS WERE:

Raymond Carver - What we talk about when we talk about love
Adam Johnson - Fortune Smiles

2. SHORT STORY CHALLENGE
I participated in a short story reading challenge and read alltogether
204 short stories since November 2016.
The collections above are excellent, I warmly recommend if you haven't read.

3. J. M. COETZEE
This South-African nobelist was a new writer to me.

The Childhood of Jesus was a bit odd, but

The Summertime absolutely hilarious - with ***** Goodreads stars!
The Summertime is a kind of biography of Coetzee with great self irony! I warmly recommend.

The Summer Fairy continues to sleep and is blushing out of shame!

4. MAY ART CHALLENGE
We were challenged to do something in only 5 minutes.

To this collage I chose those 5 min pictures with a little more elaboration.

5. SPORTS

Madrid open (tennis) is going on, but I haven't watched much.
In doubles the Finn Henry Kontinen & Australian John Peers are ranked
as the pair nr 1 and in Quarter Finals today...

Also The 2017 IIHF World Championship in ice-hockey is going on.

For the team Finland no great success, but they are hanging on.
