Friday Bliss #209 - Garden Views of the Week

My autumn asters, Symphyotrichum novi-belgii, are still small plants, but they spread eagerly.

I replant root sprouts to suitable places. Here in front of our terrace. Autumn is in the air

and finally we got some good rain! I hope this rain will help trees and my plants to survive.

Daughter M & her husband helped DH to carry all terrace furniture to shelter and

all potted seedlings were planted. No stress whatsoever, the autumn may come!

I like very much the lime colour of Humulus lupulus ’Aureus’.

It spreads eagerly and I grow new plants from its root sprouts.

Previously here was growing a beautiful pale violet Clematis Emilia Plater,

but unfortunately it disappeared years ago. Now this wild humulus replaces it.

At the background you see how my small lawn has suffered from the draught.

Plums are ripening.

I used a small bowl as decoration for a book cover photo for my book blog.

Every day joy on the kitchen table is offered by this simple autumn arrangement.
The white Phalaenopsis has been in bloom for over two months ❤︎

Friday Bliss #159 - October Mix

Autumn asters are very late bloomers in Finland. In my garden they are still mostly in tight bud,

but in a vase they have opened beautifully. In a garden center I could not resist

these ceramic pumpkins. Usually they decorate my kitchen window sill.

In October, a maple tree before your window lights up your room like a great lamp.

Even on cloudy days, its presence helps to dispel the gloom.

ART FOR THE WEEKEND

I saw these fun small statues at the Lohja Housing Fair.

There was an outdoor exhibition of local artists.

This one represents Don Quixote and Sancho Panza and under two Wild Western cowboys.

ICEHOCKEY U18

We are very proud of grandson Anton, who was the solver of the Espoo team against

the team Jukuri (5 - 2) with his pure hat trick in the second and third rounds.

In the four-match scoreboard Anton has scored 4 + 4 during the period. Congratulations!

Friday Bliss #6

This week I’ll share a late August bouquet with Aster novi-belgii,

Sedum 'Herbstfreude' & Eryngium giganteum.

This summer my new & small aster plants suffered heavily from draught,

hope they shall bloom better next summer!

This week's photos are almost all from last year.
This beautiful lilac aster is blooming right now, but it has suffered from rains too much.
In addition I'm just arriving from Barcelona,
so I timed this post before my short trip of which I'll post later.

Tämä ihana syysasteri kukkii parhaillaan, mutta on kärsinyt sateista aivan liikaa.
