Our Finnish saying means something like this:

Your home country is strawberry, other countries are blueberries.

They taste sooo good!

I eat strawberries as such or with yoghurt, quark, whipped cream,

seldom with ice cream for me it is too sweet.

Monday turned to be a rainy day. So I bought a box and shall deepfreeze some for the winter.

Skål to Summer!

Puutarhassa on aina vaikka miten paljon nysväämistä, mutta olen yrittänyt pitää myös laiskoja nautintopäiviä. Keräsin tarjottimelle tuoksuvan pienen syreenikimpun, kivaa luettavaa ja namia naposteltavaa. Ja eikun terassille!

There is always a lot to do in the garden but I have tried also to enjoy lazy days outdoors. I gathered on a tray a bit of fragrance, good reading and delicious strawberries - and out to terrace!

Puutarha on paratiisi Sissillekin. Se haluaa ulos oravia ja lintuja väijymään monta kertaa päivässä. Haluaisin kuvata sitä nätissä miljöössä, kukkien keskellä, mutta ei se suostu. Paras paikka tutkailla pihapiirin elämää on harmaa laattapolku.

The garden is paradise also for Sissi. She wants to go ambushing birds and squirrels many times a day! She is a very stubborn cat lady. I would want her to lay down among the flowers to get a pretty picture, but no. Only gray stonepath is good for her.

No, jos minulta kysytään niin kesässä on parasta aivan kaikki! 

Luonto, lämpö ja laiskuus.

Kiireettömyys, kirjat ja kekkerit.

Kivat kesävieraat ja koirakaverit.

If you ask me, I think best about summer is simply everything!

The nature, warmth and lazyness.

Easygoing life, books and parties.

Beloved summer guests and pet buddies.

We had a small casual summer party at our terrace...

I decorated the table with a phlox bouquet and a pink water lily...

Grandson and his computer while the adults were chatting...

We had some light summer salads...

There was only one corner left for photographing... Yummy!

Sour cherries from the garden did not spoil our good humour!

Five on Friday

I'll list again five things of my week and link with Amy's Five on Friday. Take time to peek what the others have been up to. The link is at the bottom of the post.

1 Strawberries & painting the house

I promised to eat strawberries in the summer with whipped cream - a lot. Started this week with imported from Spain. The Finnish strawberries are not yet ripe.

We have to paint the house. We made 3 proof paintings on the wall and could make up our minds. A big job ahead, mainly for the hubby.

2 The scent of lilacs!

Lovely weather and sun the whole week! Yesterday we got a good rain and I was very happy with it... My lilac hedgerows are in full bloom and the scent is fabulous. Mainly I have purples but some whites and pinks as well.

Wenn der weisse Flieder wieder blüht is an old German schlager that tells about white lilacs. On Youtube you can listen the Finnish version by a pretty famous Olavi Virta.

3 Apple blossom petals raining

Our only & old apple tree was packed with flowers and now the petals are raining down. Looks rather pretty.

4 Roland Garros

Not any surprising results yet. Hoping for good & tight matches. I need this rest because my back is complaining...
