Friday Bliss #193 - My May Garden

It feels that the summer has finally arrived! In the beginning of this week the weather was gorgeous with summer temperatures at about 22 C. On Thursday it began to rain and will continue still for two days. But rain is welcome, because it has been very dry. I’ll share some glimpses of my garden this week. Plums and cherries are in full bloom and they look wonderful. The garden has not yet fully grown, for examples the hostas are just showing and many shrubs don’t have leaves yet.

I don’t remember the variety os these pastel tulips, I chose them because they were on offer.

They look better in real life than on the photos.

Tulipa sylvestris are delicate and beautiful every spring!

I replanted this flower bed last summer, interesting to see how it looks later.

There are coming among others Lilium martagon.

This vigorous Clematis Constance is growing along our house ladders.

It is not yet in full bloom.

With the kittens we have fun every day.

They are trying to catch bees eagerly, silly them!

I read this week Oh William! by Elizabeth Strout and liked it very much.

We have got great news: My husband’s granddaughter Noora is having a baby 

in late November  ❤︎ DH will be a great granddad. Isn’t it great!

Friday Bliss #191- Spring Mix

May has continued chilly & rainy with day temperatures around 15 C and nights close to zero. 

This means that new growth is very slow. So far only ground covers and maples are blooming,

lilacs showing tiny buds.

Yesterday was a historical day in Finland. President Niinistö and Prime Minister Marin

said yes to Nato in a joint statement and that Finland should leave its application

without delay. In less than three months there has been a radical opinion change.

 Even PM Marin said in January that joining Nato during her government is highly unlikely.

The latest opinion polls show that 76 % of the Finns are for Nato.

Day before yesterday when PM Boris Johnson visited Finland a reporter asked president Niinistö

that isn’t applying for Nato considered a provocation by Vladimir Putin. 

Niinistö said that ”You caused this yourself. Look in the mirror.” Video on Youtube.

Handsome grandson Anton (the one who plays icehockey) celebrated his Old People’s Day. 

Old People's Day (de äldstes dag in Swedish) is a celebration by second-year 

high school students, the most characteristic features being formal wear and 

a dance performance, 'old dances’. This happening is celebrated throughout Finland 

and the boys are handsome and the girls beautiful in their princess dresses.

Kevään kaipuu - Missing Spring

Kirstin postauksesta. Kiitos kummallekin! Juuri eilen mietin kevättä 

ja mm. niitä lukuisia tulppaanilajikkeita, joita syksyllä istutin. Valokuvia on satamäärin, 

mutta päätin valita kymmenen aiempien vuosien huhti- ja toukokuulta.

This challenge was initiated by Tiiu from the blog Garden Moment. I grabbed the challenge 

from Kirsti's post. Thanks to both! Just yesterday I was thinking about spring 

and e.g. the numerous species of tulips I planted in the autumn. I have a great number of photos, 

but I decided to choose ten from April and May of previous years.

Friday Bliss #87 - Spring Delights

Spring has come! The maples are blooming with this wonderful green

and there are sprouts here and there. Not much blooming yet, mainly ground covers.

One day I counted 9 wood pigeons in my garden! I like them, they are beautiful birds.

There has been a lot to do in the garden, I’ll list a few:💥 water of garden pond has been changed 

& my fake ducks got out to swim there... 💥 terrace was cleaned as well and my buddha 

was put in place on a side table... 💥 there has been a lot weeding - Aegopodium podagraria 

drives me crazy! 💥 I visited a garden center & planted some containers - shall show them later.

Spring is such a lovely time!

Friday Bliss #85 - Blue Spring

We have had some gorgeous sunny & warm days and plants are slowly starting

to grow. The scillas are at their best right now, but shall wither soon.

I have been out in the garden a lot. Garden work is tough as you know :))

I haven’t had the energy to visit your blogs, sorry for that.
