Esittelyssä Belle Poitevine

Kurtturuusuihin - Rosa rugosa - kuuluva Belle Poitevine on hyvin 

Hansan oloinen, mutta kukkien sävy on vaaleampi.

Simolan rosarion sivuilla kerrotaan näin:

Piikkisen pensaan korkeus on noin 180 cm. Juurivesoja muodostuu runsaasti.

Belle Poitevine kukkii runsaasti myöhään syksyyn asti. 

Lilanrosa kukka on iso, 11 cm ja puolikerrannainen.

Voimakas tuoksu, ei juurikaan tee kiulukoita.

Nuppu on aika tumma pinkki, kukka vaalenee avautuessaan.

Aika huonossa ja paahteisessa paikassa kasvaa tämä Belle!

Omat Belleni ovat peräisin lapsuuskotini pihalta, sieltä olen saanut myös

pimpinellaruusu Papulan.
Belle Poitevinea ei ole yleisesti saatavilla, harmi.

Minulla on pari pensasruusualuetta, ei ne mitään isoja ole.

Mutta annan vesatainten kasvaa yleensä kukkiviksi, jotta näen mitä ne on.

Miracles - Ihmeitä

Miracles do happen - one of them is my Louise Odier! 

Fantastic blooming Bourbon rose Louise Odier freezes all its branches every winter but not now! It has never looked as good as now - even some buds can be seen this early. The flowers are from 2017 and congratulate all new students and those who have finished their studies!

Ihmeitä tapahtuu! 

Bourbonruusu Louise Odier palelluttaa liki kaikki versonsa joka talvi, vaan eipä nyt! Se ei ole ikinä näyttänyt näin hyvältä - nuppujakin näkyvissä! Kukkakuvat viime kesältä onnittelevat uusia ylioppilaita ja muita valmistuneita!

Miraculous May:

According to the figures of the Finnish Meteorological Institute May was the warmest ever since statistics are available - and that is so far as the early 1900's! There were altogether 14 hot days when the temperature is over 25 C - and that is an all time record compared to the normal 3 hot days. Draught is official too: 4 weeks without rain.

Toukokuu oli sääihme:

Ilmatieteen laitoksen tilastojen mukaan toukokuu oli Suomen mittaushistorian lämpimin. Vertailukelpoinen aineisto alkaa 1900-luvun alusta. Hellepäiviä, jolloin päivän ylin lämpötila on yli 25 astetta, oli toukokuussa enemmän kuin koskaan mittaushistorian aikana, yhteensä 14. Tyypillisesti hellepäiviä on toukokuussa vain kolme. Kuivuus on virallista myös: 4 viikkoon ei ole satanut.

So it is no wonder 

that the whole country has gone crazy about the heat - but the gardeners of course have been complaining and praying for rain - me too. Because of the draught the blooming goes too quickly and some flowers are smaller than usual.

Ei siis ihme

että koko maa on ollut onnesta sekaisin - kotipuutarhurit tietysti valittaneet  - minäkin - ja rukoilleet sadetta :) Kuivuuden takia monen kasvin kukat ovat normaalia pienempiä ja kuihtuvatkin nopeasti.

Miracles by paint & diligence  / DIY:

My blog friend Kirsti asked wether we have renovated some old stuff. That inspired me to spray with black two faded plant towers and add old plastic hanging baskets. I'm sure the towers shall look nice when plants grow. Then I went to my storage and found white pebbles that had been forgotten there for many years. Now some of my stone areas look really nice - thank you Kirsti for the inspiration ❤︎

Blogiystäväni Kirsti kyseli ollaanko me uudistettu vanhaa. Minä innostuin spreijaamaan mustalla kaksi kulahtanutta kasvitukea, lisäsin vielä muoviset vanhat amppelit. Uskon että kivalta näyttää, kunhan kasvit tuosta kasvavat. Sitten löysin valkoisia pyöreitä kiviä, jotka olivat unohtuneet varastoon vuosikausiksi. Toin esille ja koristelin muutamaa mukulakivialuetta. Kiitos Kirsti inspiraatiosta ❤︎

In a shop I found this beautiful & romantic display with tiny roses and baby's breath. 

The arrangement was made to a beautiful coffee set.

Löysin Kukkatalosta tämän varsin romanttisen asetelman.
Myymälässä oli pieni pyöreä pöytä, jonka päällä oli kaunis käsin merkattu liina.
Tämä kahvikuppiin tehty minikokoinen leikkoasetelma oli hurmaava!
Ympäristö oli niin säläinen, etten ottanut koko pöydästä kuvaa.
Hyvää naistenpäivää!

But there was not the complete wish nor the word happy;
and I don't know if should drop out the word international?
So I tried to figure it out on my own- but am afraid it went wrong...

Floral Bliss #31

The old Bourbon rose Louise Odier is the most delicate of my roses.
Poor Louise freezes every winter so that only two or three stems are left.

But in the summer Louise grows vigorously and delights me with a few flowers.
Behind it is growing the clematis Warzawska Nike, but it is still in bud.



Many times I have thought to dig the whole Louise away because it is 
so thin and no delight for the eye.
But its few blooms are beautiful, so worth keeping?

Garden Happiness

Hurdal rose  is very tall, its flowers are so pretty and abundant

There has been many reasons for garden happiness this week, but maybe the greatest has been 

the blooming of roses. We have had a couple of cloudy and extremely windy days. 

The wind made photographing very challenging,  that's why I add some photos from the last year.

This is an old and bad photo, but you can see how abundantly Hurdal blooms.
Sadly the branches of this specimen dried and I had to cut it down,
but I have still another Hurdal left in a good condition.

Rosa rugosa 'Rotes Meer' is very vigorous, deep purple red flowers, not yet in full bloom

Another tall 'climbing' rose is Rosa canina

Rosa rugosa 'Schneekoppe' or 'Snow Pavement'

Rosa rugosa 'Pappilan neito' - its greenish buds open up pure white.
This rose has been found in a vicarage, therefore its name is literally The Maiden of Vicarage

Colorful June

1. JUNE IN TWO COLLAGES

June starts with tulips and ends up with roses. 

It was a good month, many happy occasions, family celebrations and so much blooming.

I had so many photos that it was hard to choose - so here another monthly mosaic.

2. ABOUT MY ROSES
Now that July is starting, it's going to be the time of roses.

My rose bushes are not yet in full bloom, only single flowers are opening.

To start with,  gentle shades of pink.

Pimpinellifolia Group 'Ruskela' blooming for the first time.
So sweet and innocent!

Pimpinella roses are not so fresh looking, maybe it is some pest but I don't spray.

Pimpinellifolia Group 'Poppius'. I have also 'Papula' but it was really sad looking...

Rosa rugosa 'Zwerg' has very large old rosa blooms.
My favourite rugosa is Schneekoppe, not yet in bloom.

Stachys macrantha - not my favourite but blooms so well and spreads like hell!
