Mignon eggs & Covid-19 vaccination

The good news of the week is that me and my husband got our first Covid vaccine! 

The used vaccine was BioNTechPfizer's Comirnaty. So far no side effects.

The vaccination took place in an empty elementary school situated in the same building as

Sanomala, Finland's largest newspaper printing house. It prints the newspaper 

Helsingin Sanomat (the widest distribution in Finland) and the tabloid Ilta-Sanomat, 

among others. The building is huge. 

 

Everything was organized perfectly:

while sitting the demanded 15 minutes was relaxed with no crowd.

To reward ourselves we bought a four-pack of Fazer's Mignon eggs. A few words of them.

Mignon eggs are genuine egg shells filled with chocolate.

The founder of the company Karl Fazer began making this classic of the Finnish Easter tradition 

in his factory as early as 1896. The handmade Mignon still tastes almost the same 

as it was when it was born. 

This year 1.8 million Mignon eggs will be produced!

My Kitchen Window

Recently I bought this fun curly Chlorophytum for the hanging planter. It is high enough, 

away from Sissi’s little teeth.

Kittens in Magical Garden

Five black kittens were born in a Magical Garden. It was their first spring

 and they were excited about all the spring flowers which they saw for the first time. 

They were super curious and super speedy - to that extent that there 

seemed to be ten kittens instead of five!

Makrotex - My Favourite

The theme of Makrotex is MY FAVOURITE. It is an ample conception

that could be interpreted in many ways. I chose this photo because

tulips are my favourite flowers of the season and books are my favourite throughout the year.

Makrotex - Sound

 The theme of Makrotex is SOUND. How to depict sound with a photo?

The only idea that came to my mind was silence = no sound at all.

On a very cold morning the frost at -20 C seems to absorb all sounds.

Book Piles

The theme of Makrotex this week is PILE. I started to read in Spanish a few years ago

with Agatha Christie’s detective stories. I have swapped away many of my first Spanish books 

but these eleven Agatha Christie's books are still on my shelf.

Agatha Christie's first book The Mysterious Affair at Styles was published in 1920.

I read the book last summer to honor the 100th anniversary of this great writer.

Delicious & Juicy

The theme of Makrotex this week is DELICIOUS.

Oranges are so delicious & juicy at the moment, packed with C vitamin, too.

Orange is also a delicious color, therefore some orange skies as well.

On Sunday afternoon there was this brief orange moment

when the sunset looked fabulous!

to Aurora Borealis.

Powdered Pastels

 The theme of Makrotex this week is TEXTILE.

I photographed pastel tulips on the curtain of my room and made also

a digital edit of the above photo for Jutta’s Digitalart Dienstag.

We have snow chaos in Finland, hope to survive. 

Fortunately I saw my dentist yesterday in the center of Helsinki and not this morning.

At the moment I am reading this novel that tells about our famous

female architect Wivi Lönn (1872-1966) - Rooms made out of light.

Joys of Winter

 The snow beautifies the scenery but means also a lot of shoveling. My husband takes care

of the terrace side of the house, I of the pond side. I keep there a path open for Sissi to walk.

She does not actually love snow, because it is chilly and makes her paws wet,

but makes a few walks per day and is very enthusiastic about squirrels and blackbirds.

Sissi has her live bird movie going on on the kitchen windowsill where she spends hours.

The year 2021 has brought so far no real highlights, the life continues monotonous.

But the days are getting longer and the sun would make all the difference. But grey it is.

For Jutta’s Digitalart Dienstag I added a couple of euphoric snowmen -

they love it because they are alive again!
