At first congratulations to Finland on our 103rd independence day.
This year independence celebrations are broadcasted and every Finn can participate,
announces The President:
"Finland’s Independence Day will be celebrated this year in a new way.
Instead of the traditional reception attended by invited guests, President of the Republic of Finland
Sauli Niinistö and Mrs Jenni Haukio will invite all Finns to celebrate Independence Day remotely."
And then some cosy entrances in the neighbourhood.
Unfortunately almost all the snow had melted away when I took the photos,
but practically every house had stars on the windows and fairy lights to decorate the darkness.
This orange modern house is a bold exception among the pastel tones!

Same thought about the coincidence as I read about your Independence Day, and also over here all only by Internet and Radio. No Fiestas and since yesterday also only four people are allowed to stay together (not if you are more in a household). So it’s good to see all the lights and getting a bit a warm feeling.

This is such a strange year, mixed feelings. I just wrote to my friend that on this independence day I think what all difficult times we Finns have gone through: under Sweden & Russia, civil war, winter war, cold war - so a lot of WAR. Now we have this corona war, but shall conquer this as well. The whole world does.

Very atmospheric photos - the house entrances and windows are lovely. We try to make it beautiful in our private lives, too. In my city there is hardly any decoration this year.

I saw this (I follow your embassy here - they always have such interesting posts). I think we are seeing huge gulfs in the world. I think your leadership is one of the good ones. Glad your health and safety was of foremost importance, even if it makes for a little dull 'celebration'.
