Friday Bliss #61 - Splashes of Orange

THANK YOU all for your lovely words and comfort to my complaints about November ❤︎
The lack of daylight in the Nordic winter is dramatic and many people suffer from a fatigue and depression caused by it. I have a daylight lamp too, but it is still in the cupboard
- so my situation is not yet so bad :) But to give the weekend some energy, a few photos
& thoughts about orange. Wikipedia says:

In Europe and America, orange is the colour most associated with extroverts, warmth, fire,
energy, activity, danger, taste and aroma.
In Asia it is an important symbolic colour of Buddhism and Hinduism.

The sky takes on shades of orange during sunrise and sunset,
the colour that gives you hope that the sun will set only to rise again.
- Ram Charan

Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow.
- Wassily Kandinsky

There is no blue without yellow and without orange.
- Vincent Van Gogh

On Sunday we celebrate Fathers’ Day, it’s probably time for a strawberry cake!
The poetry book on the left is called SUN. CARROT. WATER. by Heli Laaksonen.
Her poems are written in a western dialect - I come from the east - but did not matter!
I found so much joy of life in Heli’s poems!

EDIT
Thank you Eva for reminding me about DER BLAUE REITER - The Blue Rider!
Der Blaue Reiter was an art movement lasting from 1911 to 1914, fundamental to Expressionism, along with Die Brücke which was founded in 1905.

❤︎❤︎❤︎

Wishing you much light & bright winterdays!

    1. Good morning Eva,

I'm already so happy for you, seeing Van Gogh in Frankfurt! And his exhibition is coming to Helsinki next autumn <3 I do remember Franz Marc's Blue Horse and added a link if somebody is interested to read. Wishing you a lovely weekend!

  2. Wow glorious skies, they shine and enchant. I never can get enough when I see such moments. Also I like orange; not really for me in clothing but for decoration like pillows and s.o. I have some of it in my kitchen and I think it goes well with dark wood.

Great pictures you are showing again, and especially I love your collage, next to the sky pics.

Wishing you a beautiful day and start into the weekende I am sending greetings over to you.

  7. Liebe Riitta,

    Wolfgang

  10. Dear riitta,
Orange is a wonderfully warm and positive colour that makes us happy and gives us energy. Your photos and collages are wonderful.
In the dark season we surround ourselves with a lot of orange and warm vanilla scent - which is also good for the soul - and enjoy our cosy home.
I wish you a cuddly weekend,
    heartily moni

  14. I appreciate your many orange pictures! It is one of my favorite colors. I have a feeling of loss in late September and part of October when the length of the day decreases so quickly, but given that it’s almost always sunny where I live, I eventually become used to the shorter days. I can’t imagine what it must be like where you live. Hopefully November passes quickly enough for you.

  15. Kandinski, an excellent choice! About Van Gogh, few years ago I came across this book about Van Gogh's letters to his brother Theo. A little disappointed with the translation in English, since I could read part of his original letter in Dutch. He is much more of a normal, and warm person than popular opinion has of him. Also very compassionate and giving (he wanted to marry a prostitute, so she would not have to sell her body anymore). His father did not understand him at all and as a pastor threw him out of the church.

  17. Beautiful post. I was just reading that getting outdoors for twenty minutes is helpful, even if the sun is not bright.
