I'm telling you today about my reading passion. I'm a book blogger as well and reading all the time - mostly in the evenings before getting asleep... Here are links to my book posts, they are in Finnish but there is a translator. I chose here some international books I have read lately that might be of interest to you.
Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle has this huge literature project celebrating Suomi Finland 100. Yle has chosen 100 Finnish books, released in 2016-1917, one from each year of our independence. I'm happy to tell you that I'm one of the 81 book bloggers who read and blog about these books through the whole year. Blogposts, radio & tv start next week from the year 2016. I'll blog in the autumn about a book released in 1931. The 101st book is a book released this year - so no one knows which. This whole year is going to be very exciting!
- 142 books, 42.496 pages - Quite a lot!!!
- Longest Almudena Grandes - El corazón helado, 933 pages
- Shortest Poor Richard's Almanack, 77 pages
- 87 books written by female writers, 55 by males
- 57 by Finnish writers, 85 by foreign writers
- Read in English 3, read in Spanish 12
I chose these international books to be my best in 2016. I have read many books of Isabel Allende, she is one of my favourite writers.
Elena Ferrante - The Story of a New Name
We are a bit behind in getting these in Finnish - the 2nd is released in spring. But I decided to read in English. Just started the book 3! I did not like the first one but 2. & 3. are great.
Kurjen siivellä - I participated in this reading challenge aiming to read books by East Asian writers. I succeeded to read 11 books, mainly from Japan. I read Haruki Murakami, Takashi Hiraide, Yoko Ogawa, Xiaolu Guo, Jean Kwok ...
Then I have completed the Forgotten Cemetery of Books -series by Carlos Ruiz Zafón! The 4th book was released in November 2016 - maybe it'll be soon available in English!
