René Magritte at Amos Rex

For the first time in Finland art lovers could admire Surrealism of the famous Belgian surrealist 
René Magritte (1898-1967). Magritte, who is considered a leading figure in Surrealism,
is particularly known for his works that turn everyday reality upside down
- an apple fills a whole room and a nose becomes a pipe. 

I visited Amos Rex' exhibition in May and share with you a few impressions.

Surrealism is a bit strange for me, anyway the exhibition was worth while visiting!

How about you, do you know Magritte? Love him, or hate him?

The Magritte exhibition was very popular and also I had to queue for half an hour.

Luonto ottaa vallan - Nature Takes Over

Meidän piha on täysin villiintynyt, kun viime kesänä en pystynyt ollenkaan

pitämään jöötä kasveille. Näyttää, että kasvienkin päämäärä on lisääntyä ja täyttää maa!

Portaan pielessä on pikkuinen kukkaniitty, eikä yhtään kasvia ole siihen istutettu, 

vain takana olevat loistoangervot. Harmaakäenkukkaa, jotain kuismaa, tummatulikukkaa,

ukonkelloa ja varsankelloa. Jälkimmäistä myös seuraavassa kuvassa.

My garden has gone totally wild as I wasn't able to keep check on the plants last summer. 

It seems that the goal of the plants is also to seed and fill the earth!

This little flower meadow is situated beside our stairs and no perennial was planted, 

only at the back a few shrubs of Spiraea japonica ’Odensala'.

You can find Silene coronaria, some Hypericum, Verbascum nigrum and 

Campanula latifolia & Campanula trachelium. The latter also in the following photo.

Luonnonvarainen tummatulikukka ei ole niin mahdoton siementäjä kuin kellokukat.

Ja tykkään tosi paljon sen korkeista soihduista!

Wild Verbascum nigrum is not as furious selfseeder as those two bell-flowers.

And I really like its high torches!

Nämä vuohenputket eivät onneksi kuki meidän pihalla, mutta kyllä 

nekin ovat yhdessä kesässä villiintyneet, kitkettävää on siis riittänyt.

Fortunately, these goat weeds don’t grow in my garden, 

but they have gone wild in one summer too, and there has been plenty to weed.

Hoch am Himmel - High in the Sky!

Heute habe ich Juttas Vorgabebild verwendet. Das Bild liess viel Platz am Himmel 

und fiel mir sofort Heissluftballonen ein.

Today I used Jutta’s model image. The picture left a lot of space in the sky 

and immediately came to my mind hot air balloons.
