Fortunately this tough February is soon over. We have not been sick, no covid nor flu. But the amount of snow has been exhausting. There was three snowstorms which each ment about 30 cm new snow.
In addition the Ukraine crisis with alarming news has been in my thoughts. Now Russia has atacked Ukraine, totally incomprehensible & shocking. Finland has about 1300 km of common border with Russia and we have tried to balance with this unpredictable neighbour throughout centuries and the years of the cold war. It was not easy and Finland was accused of finlandization / Finlandisierung. President Niinistö and other politicians say that Finland is not threatened at the moment, but nobody knows what President Putin is after, what his final target is. Finland and Sweden are not members of Nato, perhaps this will change in the future. I try to breath deep and calm down.
To lift my spirits, I had an ORANGE flower week: orange tulips and an orange Kalanchoe. I lack a good photographing place, so I tried several. Under a mahogany cupboard in my living room. There you can see my wedding photo thirty years back.
I gathered here also some orange flowers that I saw at a garden center.
Remember your orange vitamins!
You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!
Good morning Riita,
VastaaPoistayeah, it's not good news we're getting here.
I also read that Finland has always had to try to live with Russia and therefore - as a reporter said yesterday - lives with it.
Ukraine has a long history and if you follow it,
then you can see that there has always been war here.
Yesterday, a reporter really described what Putin is up to and said, "then there will be a third world war." Some time ago I said again and again, it only needs one more trigger and then....!? I hope not that we have him now.
I like your combination very much, orange and yellow, it fits and I think it's also good for the mood.
Hopefully google translates all of this correctly too.
Have a nice weekend.
Greetings Eva
Thank you Eva.
PoistaThis is all very shocking to me and us Finns. Poor Ukranians. President Putin is arrogant and paranoid, insane to me. Poor Russian people also. This would not have been needed. The world has had over 2 years of pandemic and climate change is going on. Enough other severe challenges, over the top. Now an inmense amount of money will be used, human lives lost and there will be a refugee crisis of Ukranian people. Crazy situyation.
So much snow...I believe you that you are waiting for spring. Good to hear that you were not sick and all about the war is shocking. For me he is paranoid too and I agree with you completely. He wants to be above everything, especially the mineral resources from Ukraine and as you can see he goes over corpses.
VastaaPoistaSo it is so good to see all the beautiful pics on your blog...orange dominates perfectly in the morning and I like it. Thanks for it and have a good start into the weekend.
Greetings and hugs
Nova
Thank you Nova, I totally agree with you what you said about Mr. Putin. A frightening paranoid man with megalomanic thoughts. I wish The UN and The US put him and hist closest the biggest sanctions ever!
PoistaI don’t normally talk politics here, sorry :) It is raining wet snow here today and the sky is grey. The good thing is that the snow is melting a bit. Saludos y abrazos.
orange tut gut in diesen angsvollen tagen!!
VastaaPoistaliebe grüße
mano
Yes, the orange is indeed an energizing colour. Have a nice weekend Mano.
PoistaLiebe Riitta,
Wolfgang
Thank you Wolfgang,
PoistaEurope has been lately so calm and safe continent, now it seems that all that has disappeared. As you said, at the moment it is impossible to see what this means to European countries. Sinking economy I suppose. Warm greetings over to you and Loretta.
These flowers are so beautiful and bright in orange colour.
VastaaPoistaI wish peace will be there across the nations. We also shocked yesterday when we heard this news. Pandemic itself was a war for everyone around the world.
These flowers made my day!
Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Thank you Amila, every normal person wishes for peace! Sending warm greetings over to you.
PoistaDraga Riitta,
Mia
Oh, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother Mia. My deepest consolation over to you and your family. Yes, we live difficult times at the moment. I got so shocked and so disappointed yesterday. It felt like all my faith in the future disappeared and all my energy ran out. But we have no other choice than continue living. Warm hugs ❤︎
PoistaWhat glorious and cheery colours. I saw your government's statement earlier today. It seems insane that this is happening, especially after all we (the whole world) has been thru in the last 2 years. I heard Russians were protesting. Seems even there it is not a popular choice. I think Globally we have had to deal with enough unnecessary death so I hope something eases the tensions. My thoughts are with all those affected. Just dreadful.
VastaaPoistaHi Lydia,
PoistaThere were indeed massive demonstrations in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Russian people don’t want war, but many have been brainwashed with the government media that say that Russia is acting for ’selfdefence’. So ridiculous. I wish we’ll see some light at the end of this dark tunnel. Greetings!
Good morning dear Riitta!
VastaaPoistaOh that's good...soooo many spring flowers. If it's always so cold and gray outside (it's raining all the time) then your pictures are a feast for the eyes!
Best wishes
Anne
Colour is what we need at the moment! Have a nice weekend Anne.
PoistaWe are also quite vexed about the news from Ukraine.
VastaaPoistaI still believe diplomacy should try again and again to find a solution.
Let's hope for the best.
A worrying situation. The diplomacy has so far been completely in vain, but let’s hope for the best!
PoistaFotografias fantásticas e de grande beleza.
VastaaPoistaUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Dedais de Francisco e Idalisa
O prazer dos livros
Muchas gracias Francisco. Feliz fin de semana.
PoistaThis energetic orange is probably necessary in such times. I often thought of you in Finland yesterday with this unpredictable neighbor. But worrying & getting upset doesn't help either.
VastaaPoistaBon week-end!
Astrid
Getting upset does not help, I know. But the position of Finland and Sweden is unsafe and dangerous without full Nato support. Have a good weekend.
PoistaVoimavärejä tarvitaankin tällä hetkellä ja paljon.
VastaaPoistaJep, huoks 🥲
Poista...orange comes in so many beautiful shades and you captured a number of them.
VastaaPoistaOrange is a joyful colour!
Poistathey broke in with the news night before last and I cried. It's a world wide problem, and aggression is never the answer. Respect is the answer and that's on short supply. I worry and all my friends are worried about this latest aggression with all it's implications.
VastaaPoistaOn the other side, your photos are so colorful and beautiful, as is your snow. We just had three days of snow but very little accumulation (2") here in colorado USA
I feel so disappointed. The world stability and security are severely shaken.
PoistaIch verstehe deine große Sorge angesichts der finnischen Geschichte. Mir fehlen die Worte. Orange als Farbe der Hoffnung, warum nicht?
VastaaPoistaLG
Magdalena
Thank you Magdalena. Many Finns feel anxiety now, just because of our history with Russia. One dictator only out of reality is needed to shake the world peace. Cold War times will follow.
PoistaDear Riita,
VastaaPoistahow well I can understand you! We in Austria are also very concerned about the war that Putin has unleashed in Ukraine - how much more frightening must it be when you live in the immediate vicinity... I really hope that things will calm down again soon!
Your colors are a real encouragement - I am enthusiastic about all the orange that shines at me here and loudly calls out "joie de vivre". And right in the middle your sweet orange and white kitty :-)
Much love and have a good weekend
Traude
https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2022/02/italien-reisebericht-trasimenischer-see.html
Thank you Traude. Putin’s agression will have long lasting consecuences. It is great to notice that The West is united in this matter.
PoistaPS: Today I bring you TWO new chapters of my Italy travel report for the linkup - maybe they will distract you from snow mountains and uncomfortable neighbors... Hope so!
VastaaPoistaThank you Traude, I’ll visit your blog soon!
PoistaBeautiful post, Riitta. Orange is the color of the Dutch King and queen (The House of Orange). I agree, Ritta, scary - I didn't remember you had any common border with Russia. Just remember when this unpredictable bear country utters any threat, to get out of where you live - in TIME! Your freedom is worth more than your nice house! Wishing you a lovely weekend, Emille
VastaaPoistaThank you Emille I am too old to flee and yet I trust our politicians.
PoistaYour pictures are beautiful! I believe Finland will be safe because Putin does not have the support of his people. Honestly I wonder if he has some sort of dementia.
VastaaPoistaI have followed the world news and many experts say that Putin is not quite well. Let’s see what happens. But dangerous he is at the moment.
PoistaWe have a beautiful sunny Saturday, I wish you, too.
VastaaPoistaOMG
VastaaPoistaTimes are hard. We are all afraid of what Putin will do. Now attacked Ukraine and later? I hope your country and mine will be safe.
Your orange flowers are beautiful - a symbol of Ukraine.
Have a nice and happy weekend.
I see on the news that you get a lot of Ukranian refugees. Let’s hope this madness ends in Ukraine’s victory.
