Villiä ja värikästä

Meillä näyttää käyvän vieraita aina torstaisin, joten väsäsin aamulla tämmöisen kimpun puutarhan kukkijoista. Värikästä ja villiä...

It seems we get guests always on Thursdays, so I made this bouquet of garden flowers. Colorful and wild...

Kimpussa on kultapalloa, syysmaksaruohoa, rantakukkaa, muutama Arabella-kärhö ja kultahumalaa.

I used Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldball', green sedum Herbstfreude, Clematis Arabella, Lythrum salicaria and Humulus lupulus 'Aureus'.

Parasta kesässä - Best about Summer

Hi, I'm Arttu, ain't I sweet ♥

No, jos minulta kysytään niin kesässä on parasta aivan kaikki!
Luonto, lämpö ja laiskuus.
Kiireettömyys, kirjat ja kekkerit.
Kivat kesävieraat ja koirakaverit.

If you ask me, I think best about summer is simply everything!
The nature, warmth and lazyness.
Easygoing life, books and parties.
Beloved summer guests and pet buddies.

We had a small casual summer party at our terrace...

I decorated the table with a phlox bouquet and a pink water lily...

Grandson and his computer while the adults were chatting...

We had some light summer salads...

There was only one corner left for photographing... Yummy!

Sour cherries from the garden did not spoil our good humour!

Barbara at Coastal Ripples is hosting a meme Paint Monthly.
I add here the link to my August Artist if you are interested.

Elokuu alkoi, mutta kesä jatkuu!
It's August but the summer at its best!

Artist of August - Maria Wiik

Innocentia 1900

Maria Wiik (1853-1928) was born in Helsinki and was one of the most beloved Finnish female painters in 1800. She lived in a time when the role of a female painter was not easy.

Young girl 1886
Encouraged by her family, she studied art 1874-1875 at the Drawing School of Helsinki. In 1875, she continued her art studies in Paris under Tony Robert-Fleury at the Académie Julian from 1875 and in 1880 she became a substitute teacher at the Drawing School of Helsinki.

Sister Hilda Wiik 1880

Her early paintings accepted for the Paris Salon in 1880 were portraits. In 1881, she painted a series of small paintings with a more psychological atmosphere including minute details. In spring 1889, she returned to Paris with her friend, the painter Helene Schjerfbeck to work among others with Puvis de Chavannes. In 1883-1884, they painted in England and then in 1889 in St Ives.

Out into the World 1889

Her painting Out into the World won a bronze medal at the 1900 World Exposition and was included in the 1905 book Women Painters of the World.

Great photos of Wiik's paintings here.
