Bye, Bye Floral Bliss!

It has come time to say good bye to Floral Bliss. I started my weekly link-up 

the 31st of May in 2016, at that time under the name Flower Wednesday - altogether 31 posts. 

As Floral Bliss there has now been 89 posts, in total 120. This is the last one.

There has been a few loyal participants nearly every week,

but I don’t want you to be obliged. So, I want to thank you all who have participated! 

This time has been fun - but there are so many link-ups around the world to choose from;

I also run out of plants and don’t want to repeat myself. 

Thank you for your company ❤︎ 

I’m sure we’ll meet at other sites. And Floral Passions is not going to disappear!

Quiet, very quiet

the summer flows out of me,

here when I sit on the veranda

and the leaves are falling at their own pace.

In the end, there’s just a slowly moving fog 

and an overwhelming loneliness.

I have three big pots on the terrace stairs. In the early summer there were pansies, 

now chrysanthemums with lime Lysimachia mummularia. I love its lime color! 

This ground cover spends the winter planted into ground. Part shall stay there on the spot 

covering bushes etc., part shall be used again in summer plantings.

Minulla on terassin loivilla portailla kolme isoa ruukkua. Alkukesästä orvokkeja, 

nyt krysanteemeja limenvärisen suikeroalven kanssa. Oi että tykkään sen väristä! 

Talven suikeroalvet viettävät maahan istutettuina. Osa jää maanpeitteeksi niille sijoilleen, 

osa päätyy taas kesäkukkaruukkuihin.

Hiljaa, hyvin hiljaa
valuu kesä minusta pois,
tässä, kun istun verannalla
ja lehdet varisevat omia aikojaan.
Lopulta on vain verkkaan liikehtivä
sumu ja täyttyvä yksinäisyys.

The husband went shopping. I love the color he chose although 

I usually buy ball shaped autumn blooming variety.

Isäntä kävi ostoksilla. Tykkään kovasti hänen valitsemastaan väristä, 

joskin itse tapaan ostaa pallokrysaanteemeja isommissa ruukuissa.

Years ago I got my plum trees as small root sprouts in a plant exchange.

This year they produce plums more than ever!

Propably they are a variety called ’Sinikka’.

...

Olen saanut luumupuuni vuosia sitten pieninä juurivesoina kasvivaihdossa.

Tänä vuonna sato on suurempi kuin koskaan!

Luulen lajikkeen olevan siniluumu ’Sinikka’.

Jo monena keväänä luumupuuni ovat ihastuttaneet valkoisella kukinnallaan.

’The seed fabric’ after blooming - Kukinnan jälkeen....

August has been blooming time for hollyhocks.

I have this black & dramatic variety - Alcea rosea 'Nigra' that I have grown from seed.

To my astonishment one bloomed last summer with gorgeous red flowers.

The flowers have been pretty small this year due to the draught.

But anyway they catch the eye in the garden.

Elokuu on ollut salkoruusujen kukinta-aikaa.

Minulla on vain tätä yhtä 'Nigra'-lajiketta, jotka olen kasvattanut siemenestä.

Viime kesänä yksi kukki hämmästyksekseni upein punaisin kukin.

Tänä vuonna kukat ovat olleet aika pieniä johtuen kuivuudesta.

Mutta kyllähän ne puutarhassa ilahduttavat komeudellaan.

Strong colors fit so well to late summer.
This strong purple & yellow color combination grows beside my terrace:
Clematis 'Negritjanka' and Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldball'.
The photos were taken last week, now the blooms are already withering.
...
Vahvat värit istuvat loistavasti loppukesään.
Terassin päädyssä kasvavat clematis 'Negritjanka' ja kultapallo luovat
minua miellyttävän vahvan väriyhdistelmän.
Nyt nämäkin jo kuihtumaan päin...

Colorful week! - Värikästä viikkoa!

Floral Bliss #85

The heat and draught have gone by now, but they did their damage.
Birches and many shrubs are yellow already and drop their leaves on the grass.
Autumn is in the air. Of course a bit melancholy but apples are ripening!

This week I'll share my poor summer plantings.
The watering was the responsibility of my husband, but he did not quite succeed...

The white small flowered petunia all withered...

Kuumuus ja kuivuus ovat mennyttä, mutta tekivät vahinkonsa.
Koivut ovat keltaisia, monet pensaat ruskeita ja syksyn lehtiä satelee nurmikolle.
Tuntuu hyvin syksyiseltä, haikealtakin tottakai, mutta omenat ovat kypsymässä!

Tällä viikolla muutama kuva surkeista kesäkukistani.
Kastelu oli miehen vastuulla eikä ressukka selvinnyt aivan puhtain paperein.

The gorgeous blue petunia on the terrace all dried up... Now cut down, hope it shall grow & bloom.

This light petunia of thuja planting all dried up... The thuja & the grass still alive!

But my husband has managed to keep this hanging basket alive & beautiful ❤︎

Why my Actinidia kolomikta grows in a funny place like this, beside the pool?
Well, it was climbing to the roof of our gazebo, but one winter the gazebo fell to ground
because of snow burden - and the plant stayed on the spot :)

Jaa, miksi kiinanlaikkuköynnökseni kasvaa näin hullussa paikassa?
No, se kiipeili huvimajan katolle, mutta yhtenä talvena huvimaja sortui lumen painosta
- ja kiinanlaikkuköynnös jäi niille sijoilleen :)

For me yellow is the color of spring & late summer. 
I don't like big splashes of yellow but a hint here and there is ok and belongs to August. 
At the moment Rudbeckia laciniata 'Goldball' and Ligularia przewalskii are blooming.

The latter needs moist soil and loves half-shade, and also selfsows eagerly.

I made a simple bouquet added with sedum 'Herbstfreude'.

Keltainen kuuluu mielestäni kevääseen ja loppukesään.

 En pidä suurista keltaisista kasviryhmistä - ripaus siellä täällä riittää.

Tällä hetkellä kukassa ovat kultapallo ja valtikkanauhus,

joka nuupottaa lehtiään auringossa. Meillä se kasvaa talon pohjoispuolella varjossa.

Simppelissä kimpussani on lisäksi syysmaksaruohoa.

Yellow Rudbeckia and purple clematis 'Mikelite' grow near each other.

A strong complementary color combination that pleases me.

Kultapallot ja purppurainen 'Mikelite' kasvavat lähekkäin.

Vahva vastavärien väriyhdistelmä - istuu minun silmään oikeinkin hyvin.
