It's summer, it's Midsummer and the gorgeous Nordic night.
Happiness and joy in people’s minds, because of
this fascinating magic of nightless night.
The Summer Solstice occured this year on Tuesday, the 21st of June. But today we celebrate in Finland Midsummer’s Eve and the nightless night! In Lapland the sun does not set at all from June 15 till July 1. In Helsinki region the sun sets for only about 4 hours - so the night is short also here!
This Midsummer we are going to have splendid weather - up till 30 C and sunshine. It feels wonderful, as awckward it may seem the Midsummer weather is often cool and rainy in Finland. I’ll have family members visiting and we’ll have dinner on the terrace.
The whole week has been gorgeous, warm and sunny. Many perennials and rose shrubs are in bloom and I have done this and that in the garden. My Midsummer bouquet was made with peonies, aquilegias, hemerocallis etc.
Green was the silence, wet was the light, the month of June trembled like a butterfly.

That’s a great thing - to bike for the climate. My daughter-in-law cycled last summer for a welfare project in the Team Rynkeby. They cycled in Finland about 700 km. Enjoy, you are so fit that you’ll have no problems. Hugs.

PoistaLike a paradies...so pretty and wonderful at you place. Over here we are having the Noche de San Juan Fiestas all over the Island and nearby a Fire on the Playa, together with live bands. I like the tradition.

We have a tradition also of bonfires on the shores of the lakes. But now it is so dry that to make an open fire is prohibited in most Southern Finland. But fiestas will of course be celebrated. Enjoy your San Juan Nova!

VastaaPoistaMany people need extra darkening curtains in their bedroom. I have also darkish curtains, fall asleep well, but often wake up when the sun rises - and that is early. Of course most people get used to sleep in the light.

VastaaPoistadie Bilder vermitteln einen guten Eindruck von dem schönen Sommer. Allerdings finde ich eine Nacht, die nur vier Stunden dauert schon sehr kurz. Da müsste ich schon irgendwie die Fenster abdunkeln, den wenn es hell ist, kann ich nicht so gut schlafen.
