Blooming June in the Neighbourhood

Walking in my residential area is a real treat right now as there is so much blooming.
Big shrubs of white and pink Syringa josikae look fabulous!

Rose spinosissima shrubs add their white charm.
It is a traditional rose shrub in Finland and we call it Midsummer Rose.

Along the road cow parsley and lupines in abundance.
I had just time to pick a few until the maintenance guy mowed them all down.

Wishing everybody a sunny summer week!

Early This June Morning

Meconopsis betonicifolia - Sinivaleunikko

Our topic this week is June. So I went out at 5 o'clock and photographed some glimpses
in the morning sun - which by the way is a bit challenging.
This is what I got! The warm weather has made many plants to bloom.
The early bird catches the worm - in this case photos :)

Makrotexin aiheena on kesäkuu.
Tässä muutamia kurkistuksia kello 5.00 tänä aamuna.
Aikainen lintu kuvan nappaa :)

Probably: Geranium himalyense - Idänkurjenpolvi
Rosa spinosissima - Juhannusruusu
Meconopsis cambrica - Keltavaleunikko
Humulus lupulus 'Aureus' - Kultahumala
Rosa Pimpinellifolia 'Poppius' - Suviruusu
Maybe this delighted me the most! - Ehkä tämä ilahdutti eniten!

Happy Midsummer!

Eino Leino (1878 – 1926) was a Finnish poet and journalist and is considered one of the pioneers of Finnish poetry. His poems combine modern and Finnish folk elements. The style of much of his work is like the Kalevala and folk songs. Nature, love, and despair are frequent themes in Leino's work. He is beloved and widely read in Finland today. His poem Midsummer is very well-known.

Juhannus

Minä avaan syömeni selälleen
ja annan päivän paistaa,
minä tahdon kylpeä joka veen
ja joka marjan maistaa.

Minun mielessäni on juhannus
ja juhla ja mittumaari,
ja jos minä illoin itkenkin,
niin siellä on sateenkaari.

Midsummer

Trusting, my heart I open and take
the daylight there to shine,
I want to bathe myself in every lake
and taste all berries fine.

Deep in my mind I celebrate Saint John
and the midsummer night,
and, in the evenings, If I cry anon
there's a rainbow bright.

- translated by Maria Magdalena Biela

Mittsommer

Ich werde mein Herz aufmachen
und den Tag glänzen lassen,
Ich werde jeden See baden
und alle Beere schmecken.

In meinem Kopf ist es Hochsommer
und Feier und Mittsommer,
und soll ich abends weinen,
so wird es ein Regenbogen sein.

Floral Bliss #26

It is Midsummer week. I connect to midsummer geraniums, lupins, cow parsley
irises and of course Midsummer rose - Rosa spinosissima.

When I was a little girl my father decorated with young birches
both sides of the stairs. So birch branches belong still to my midsummer tradition
and actually any white & blue flowers bring the right midsummer mood.
Geraniums are not yet in bloom, but I gathered here some that are blooming right now.

Zeniä sateeseen - Zen and rain

It has been a cold, rainy and windy week, no sitting at our terrace. To stay positive and keep the good spirit, a bit of zen was needed! I photographed my buddha - inside because of the rain! - simply with some Midsummer roses. I'll take him soon out to the terrace with the roses for his meditation.

Mukavaa viikonloppua - pysytään lämpiminä!
Have a nice weekend and stay warm!
