Old Love / Vanha rakkaus
These fabulous wood sculptures were on show at Gumbostrand Konst & Form created by Robert Lappalainen. This is how former race car driver, nowadays wood artist Lappalainen (b. 1949) presents himself:
"On my own farm, I cut down the trees myself and after drying them, unique art is created. I am excited as a little boy about my new profession, so it will be a long day at the workshop. I often sit for long periods of time in my studio and think, what I am going to do with that huge tree trunk. In the end it turns into a beautiful unique work of art. Before it is finished it has been worked for months, piece by piece towards the end result. When the piece is finished, I hug it and thank it for the wonderful time together, because the tree has done the greatest job growing for 150 years and I only spent a few months on it.”

VastaaPoistaI have to agree with Jesh, I think I've seen something similar to this art work before - same artist but slightly different work. Love the flowers - just beautiful. I got up early and cancelled my weekend away (one night really) to go to galleries. I could almost cry. The second time I've had to move it. Honestly, it's exhausting.

VastaaPoistaI LOVE such wooden sculptures, partly rough and rustic, partly with a wonderfully smooth feel. When I was young, I founded an association with friends to make art more accessible for the disabled persons. The olive tree sculptures by the artist Rena Meren, for example, were a good way for blind people to feel art: http://www.rena-meren.at/werk/sculp1.html They remind me a lot of the sculptures you showed. Your daylilies are also wonderful - especially the ones in your last photo look unusual / very special to me!

VastaaPoistadas sind sehr schöne Stücke, aber ich mag sowieso fast alles, was aus Holz gefertigt wurde.
Der Monat ist schon wieder zu Ende (Ich habe Deine Collage gesehen). Und bei uns war es viel zu trocken, im ganzen Monat hat es nur 16 Liter auf den Quadratmeter geregnet, das ist viel zu wenig und ich denke, bald sehe ich mehr Gelb als Grün im Garten.
Ich wünsche Dir einen schönen Sonntag.
