Aboa Vetus in Turku, the only archaeological museum in Finland, is a medieval town quarter of six houses discovered underground. The remains of the buildings were kept as they were found in the 1990s. After the Great Fire of Turku in 1827 majority of the city had to be rebuilt, and medieval ruins were buried underground.
The medieval ruins are located under this impressive family home Rettig palace,
built on the site in 1928 by a tobacco manufacturer Hans von Rettig.
The upper floors host modern art, a museum called Ars Nova.
It was interesting to walk in the middle of these ancient ruins. Unfortunately the space lacked light, so photos did not succeed so well. But I found there this fascinating Mouseum, that is a miniature museum for mice, made by the Raunistula dollhouse club as a jubilee exhibition for their 10th anniversary. MODERN ART
Photographed in the café of the Rettig Palace. The artist is Niki de Saint Phalle.
Thank you Kirsi for the name!
MEETING SIRU FOR THE FIRST TIME
We have an exciting day tomorrow: we’ll see the five weeks old Siru for the first time.
She is a Norwegian Forest Cat born with 5 other kitties on September the 2nd.
It will take still 8 weeks until we get her home.
❤︎❤︎❤︎
Danke Riita,
Thank you Eva. We are really exciting seeing Siru in Hämeenlinna, it is a city at 1,5 hour's distance from our home. Warm greetings.
PoistaHuch Riita,
Hello Eva. When you turn the text to some other language than Finnish it translates also the comments. I see your comment in German. Google is not perfect!
PoistaI see your confusement! Where from the hell Google translator found the word KRIEG!!!! No problem, I saw hat you ment.
PoistaLiebe Riitta,
Wolfgang
So glad you told your memories about seeing Lotti as puppy Wolfgang. So you know how we feel :)) The waiting is long but the lady breeder posts often videos & photos on her closed Facebook group. LG, riitta
PoistaGood Morning,
VastaaPoistathe big Stones in the Museum are fascinating. But I think the Mouseum is the favourite for Siru ;-)
How lovely and sweet the kitty-cat is!
Greetings from Germany

Aren't they skilful Amalia! The Mouseum was charming in real life, in photos it looses its char. Happy weekend.
PoistaGood morning dear Riitta
VastaaPoistaThe Museum you visited seems very interesting. I love the miniature museum, it is wonderful with all the details.
Might the artist be Niki de Saint Phalle? There was an exhibition in Finnland some years ago.
You still need some patience to welcome Siru in your home. She is so cute.
Have a blissful friday and hugs
Eda
Thank you Eda for Niki de Saint Phalle's name. It was almost on my tongue :) Her exhibition was in 2016 at Taidehalli, unfortunately I did not see it. Warm greetings.
VastaaPoistaOh...getting a new cat. How cute she is, and please let us know how your first meeting was. Very interesting the museum. Must be impressive to walk along there and to let the imagination run wild ;-)
VastaaPoistaMy heart was beating when I saw the miniature museum with all these cute mice. Would love to shrink and feel it.
Thanks for sharing all, and for you a lovely visiting moment.
Today I am not with the project, still showing last month ;-) but I will come again.
Greetings and hugs
Nova
Thank you for visiting dear Nova ❤︎ I understand that you are busy after the long vacation... Un abrazo.
PoistaThe first 2 shots of the archaeological museum are interesting to see. The miniature museum is fascinating and fun to check out. Siru is so cute and sweet. She is going to love you and her new home. Have a great weekend.
VastaaPoistaThank you Nancy <3
PoistaThe little mouse art gallery is SO GORGEOUS!!!
VastaaPoistaThe ladies behind Mouseum are so talented and enthusiastic with their hobby!

Vielen Dank Magdalena, lg riitta
PoistaGreat ruins and the Mouseum is so cute!!! Only N. de Saint Phalle never was my taste...
VastaaPoistaSweet kitty, I'm sure, it's hard for you to wait.
Enjoy your weekend
Mouseum WAS really cute, especially for me because I once was very enthusiastic about dollhouses. De Saint Phalle was very striking in that cafe surroundings.
❤️lich

PoistaThanks for sharing Aboa Vetus.
VastaaPoistaSiru is lovely. You will enjoy her company!
Happy weekend, Riita!
(I am hoping in sunny patches)
We wanted to have a male kitten, but there was only one. So Siru = Chip will be our little kitty girl <3
Poista...a wonderful place to visit.
VastaaPoistaThe ruins were really interesting.
PoistaOi, miten hauska tuo Mouseum!
VastaaPoistaSiru <3
PoistaSuch an interesting museum! The mouse museum is a cute addition:) How exciting, a new kitty - why do you have to wait so long before you can take her home ... feedings? Have a wonderful weekend!
VastaaPoistaEmille (Jesh)
The kitties have to be minimum 13 weeks old until they are separated from their mother. Can’t wait!
PoistaThe Mouseum looks wonderful. Congratulations on your new family member. A female kitty is the best kind. Maybe she'll me a mouser!
VastaaPoistaWe’ll see Sara!
PoistaHallo Riitta!
VastaaPoistaThe mouse museum is great! It reminds me of an artist from Holland who makes mice and everything else for her own mouse house. I'm fascinated every time. There are also a lot of books about these mice! https://www.dasmaeusehaus.de/
Greetings
Anne
Wow, that is eclectic. Interesting place.
VastaaPoistaLooks like a really interesting visit. Enjoy your new cat.
VastaaPoistaOoooh, dear Riitta,
VastaaPoistathe news that Siru will move in with you is of course the best! I was also very happy to see a work by Niki de Saint Phalle here - she is one of my favorite artists. And if you read my previous post, you will also see that this is the third time I have visited the breathtaking tarot garden of this artist in Italy. (But there will be more detailed information about it in a few weeks, as soon as I get to my travel report on our trip to the Tarot Garden :-))
The museum in Turku looks very interesting too - and all the mouse arrangements are really charming! (The sweet, beautiful Siru would probably like REAL mice better ;-))
All the best and a very happy October-weekend
