A real winter continues: snow, freezing cold, yet also sun occasionally.
Over the weekend it is forecast almost - 20 C also in Southern Finland.
The word February comes from the Roman festival of purification called Februa, during which people were ritually washed.
In many languages the name of February is of this origin:
februari in Swedish, Februar in German, febrero in Spanish, février in French and febbraio in Italian.
But this was not good for us Finns, we wanted to be original! In Finnish it is Helmikuu, meaning a month of pearls or beads. It is said the name came from the iced beads of tree branches, which are formed now and then in southern Finland when the frost suddenly tightens again.

PoistaRuneberg pastries are really delicious, rich in fat and sugar. I don't bake them myself, in groceries there are many varieties available. If I baked them myself, I would eat them all :) They are irrisistible! Thank you for your comment, hava a nice weekend.

VastaaPoistadie kleine primel ist so schön, ich habe zwei in lachsrosé, die mag ich auch sehr. und rosa und rote tulpen. leider vergesse ich immer, sie für den friday bliss mal zu fotografieren...

VastaaPoistawas Du über den Februar geschrieben hast ist sehr interessant und ich wusste das noch nicht. Die Bilder mit den schneebedeckten Ästen gefallen mir sehr gut. Hier bei uns liegt kein Schnee mehr, aber vielleicht kommt der Winter jetzt zurück, es soll sehr kalt werden.
