The Cathedral of Florence or Duomo is immensely decorative outside, but not so in the inside.
I queued for an hour and was a bit disappointed that it was not allowed to sit on the benches. This has never been the case in any church.
Some elaborate bronze details on some door.

Oh... me neither. That is more than unusual that you are not allowed to sit down ;-( I think that's exactly the moment when you can enjoy it. It's a pity, but you were able to take some nice pictures, and from the outside it’s just gorgeous. As well as today's T what you brought from there. Thank you very much for that and for being part of the project again.
VastaaPoistaI am very happy and wish you a nice Sunday
Greetings over to you

As you say, it is very unusual and strange that you cannot sit down. What a pity!
VastaaPoistaYour shots are beautiful and neat.
Happy weekend!
Good morning Riitta!
VastaaPoistaWOW! The cathedral is magnificent from the outside. I have never seen such a beautiful cathedral. From the inside there is nothing, there are really nicer ones. I find it rather unfriendly that a church blocks the benches. It's a pity!
Have a nice Sunday!
best regards
Anne
Dear Riitta,
VastaaPoistathis cathedral is really all around extraordinary. And so are the streams of visitors who wander through it every day. In order to keep this stream flowing, they probably prevented sitting.
I still remember very well how impressed I was by this building. Both inside and outside.
Happy Sunday and best regards

...what fabulous details!
VastaaPoistaThat door is amazing!
VastaaPoistaSo true Elke, there are deceptions sometimes. I do not know thoroughly the building history of this Duomo. But surely an inmense amount of work and inmense amount of money. At its building time, a great many people suffered of poverty and also famine, I suppose. But the Catholic Church needed to show its power?
VastaaPoistaWhat a pity that it is not allowed to sit down in this impressive cathedral. Thank you for showing the nice photos.
VastaaPoistagreetings and have a great week
Dieter
Riitta - it is sad that people are not allowed to sit on the pews. Like you, I have never seen that in a church. Just because it is "visiting hours", I am sure that there are people who would like to worship. It is a heavenly building. Thanks for sharing with Mosaic Monday!
VastaaPoistafeine Schnitzereien sind dort an und um die Türe drum rum
VastaaPoistaeinen guten Start in die Woche
wünscht gabi
Hello, it is strange you were not allowed to sit down. A church should feel more welcoming, this sound like take a look and move on. It is a beautiful building with lovely details! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
VastaaPoistaMagnificent splendor! The cathedral is gorgeous and what a wonderful place to take pictures or visit for a while. Such lovely details and craftsmanship that we no longer do, so sad.

Se ve preciosa. He visto muchas catedrales y en todas se podía sentar. Besitos.
VastaaPoistaWhat an amazing place to go with a camera. I'm sure you saw even more details when you looked at the photos you had taken! What beauty!
