This garden belongs to an elderly couple in my neighbourhood.
I have not visited the garden but before their Taxus hedge blocked the views I could admire
among others a fantastic and well grown dark-leaved Japanese maple, Cercidiphyllum japonicum
& other in our climate delicate plants.
Near the gate there are these Aesculus hippocastanum, seldom seen in private gardens.

The hippocastanum is very common along roads or in parks in northern Italy, but not in private gardens, unless they are really large.
