Friday Bliss #45 - Purple Magic & Sightseeing

Large flowered Negritjanka is my most beautiful clematis.
It blooms abundantly year after year. The colour is very dark, my photos show it lighter.
The contrasting yellow-white anthers add its charm.

I saw a splendid exhibition Careless Capital - Suruton kaupunki
that tells how the life was in Helsinki in the roaring 1920s.
Time was wild. There was a prohibition in the country, but the booze never ended
and the restaurants offered hard tea.
Jazz, swing, revues, restaurants - poverty, unemployment, reds vs whites -
a lot of contrasts in the middle of Helsinki, street slang & many foreign languages.
HERE you can read more about my impressions.

Beautiful Hakasalmi Villa, now a museum, was the home of Aurora Karamzin (1808-1902)
who served at the Russian Court as a lady-in-waiting before her marriage to a Russian nobleman.
Later she used the immense wealth inherited from her first husband to create
benevolent institutions in Helsinki, such as schools, public kitchens and
the Deaconess Institution of Helsinki.

The villa is situated opposite the central library Oodi and in the middle of
Music Hall and Finlandia Hall, where there was going some EU meeting
with a lot of police on guard. From the villa’s garden I could see central library Oodi’s
sunny terrace full of people enjoying the lovely afternoon.

  8. Dearest Riitta; How GORGEOUS your Clematis is; sure is Purple Magic ♡♡♡ Happy that I can enjoy flowers I rarely can☆☆☆ In Japan, purple is considered as a noble color.
Isn't it always a pleasure or exciting to get in touch with about your country's history; The Villa looks such a wonderful place to visit; I can imagine the rewarding time at the place like that♡♡♡
