Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s Super Week

I have told you before about our young and beautiful Prime Minister Sanna Marin. Her Government is the 76th Government of the Republic of Finland, which took office on 10 December 2019. Sanna Marin was then 34 years, now 36. Her government has met extremely big challenges: the pandemia, Russia’s attack on Ukraine and now Finland’s possible application for Nato. The Finnish politicians  - President Sauli Niinistö, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto & Minister of Defence Antti Kaikkonen - have traveled worldwide and continue to do so. President Niinistö will make a state visit to Sweden on 17–18 May 2022 at the invitation of King Carl Gustav XVI.

Yesterday Marin had time to attend to Finnish Music Awards, Emma Gala with her husband Markus. This is how Marin’s hectic week 18 looked like:

On Tuesday, Marin headed to Germany, where she attended the discussions hosted by the German federal government on the changed security situation in Europe at the invitation of Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Marin arrived at the Meseberg Castle near Berlin in a spectacular helicopter with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Magdalena Andersson.

On Wednesday, Marin traveled to Copenhagen, where the Nordic prime ministers met. The meeting of the five prime ministers also focused on possible NATO applications from Finland and Sweden.

On Thursday, it was Poland's and Warsaw's capital, where Marin attended an international aid conference for Ukraine.

On Friday, Marin was celebrating at the Emma Gala. She says on the red carpet that she takes care of herself in busy times, especially by sports.

"Yesterday was a busy day. We left for Warsaw in the morning, where there was a support conference for Ukraine. From there, when we got home, I quickly went to pick up these white pants, got to one more meeting, and even went for a jog. I still had time to read an evening story to my child."

Next week, the prime minister’s travel tube will continue as she flies to Japan for a three-day visit. During the trip, Marin will meet, among others, the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hiroyuki Hosoda.
