The permanent exhibition at Helsinki City Museum presents nostalgic memories of the 1950s.
Some of us remember how modest the homes looked at back then.
From my childhood home I remember gobelins like this and cushions
and blankets with these patterns!
My father used to listen to sport transmissions with a similar radio.
A very popular cross stich pattern was the castle of Vyborg.
My mother had stiched a similar one too.
Plum series by Arabia dates also back to 1950s.

A beautiful entrance door. I think it belonged to some cinema.
Elanto was an important cooperation store chain in Helsinki.
There was an Elanto shop in every corner, that’s where the saying:
Spreads as Elanto!

What a nostalgic feeling! Remember, my parents had a similiar radio still in 1979, when I've lost them for a own life.

VastaaPoista...I came of age in the '50s and how I remember Paul Anka and others! There are still these remote controls that are connected to Jukeboxes that still play 45 records in a few restaurants here. My grandmother had a large floor model radio that was similar to this one. VastaaPoistaOh yes, those are memories at their best. I love such old things, even furnishings. In my kitchen you can listen to music from an old radio too. Got it from my grandpa.

VastaaPoistaMy mother had a radio similar to that in your shot. I remember very clearly the names of the cities where the broadcastings came from: for instance Brussels,...Oslo...and...Lahti! Therefore many years later I asked my husband to visit the radio museum in Lahti and those two antennas.

VastaaPoistaI was born in 1940, so the 50s brings many memories, needless to say! Not exactly the same, but pretty close! Actually the jukeboxes looks exactly the same! Everyone who was a teenager during those years will know that!
