Memories from Florence

Florence is full of treasures in every corner.  I’ll share today some photos of the Piazza della Signoria. I was staying very near to this popular square where the crowds of tourists gathered every day.

There is the Fountain of Neptune in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. Made of marble and bronze, the fountain was commissioned in 1565 and designed by Baccio Bandinelli. It is the work of the sculptor Bartolomeo Ammannati with some elements created by collaborators. For example, the bronze sea-horses are the work of Giovanni da Bologna, often called Giambologna.

I took plenty of photos during my stay in Florence. The photos of these collages are not
from Piazza della Signoria - I have to say that I don’t remember at all where I took them :))
These blue focus are for Christa's Fokus auf Schwarz / Weiss.

FINALLY SOMETHING FINNISH TOO: Ida Elina & Finnish Kantele-pop
A kantele is a traditional Finnish and Karelian plucked string instrument
belonging to the south east Balticbox zither family.
With search 'Ida Elina’ you can find more videos - she is exepcionally talented musician.

  3. Riitta - ah, Florence. A place I hope to visit someday. The blue focus brought my eye to the New York t-shirt. When my husband and I travel, we always find it fascinating what people are wearing - it does not always represent where they are from! Thanks so much for including the clip of Ida Elina - I was glued to the screen during the whole song - from her talent with the instrument to her voice and the blending of her voice in harmony - all genius! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
