Let’s open a door to peace & silence for this All Saints' weekend.
In Florence I visited Museo di San Marco. It used to be a convent and the visitor could enter
the monks’ small chambers or cells on the 1st floor. They were similar, maybe 10 m2, each chamber had a slightly different beautiful fresco on the wall and the window to the outer world
was really small. For me it was wonderful to step back in time and imagine the monks’
silent and simple life in the 15th century and later.
On the 1st floor there was also the convent’s library. The hall was big and beautiful
showing under glas heavy illustrated manuscripts written by hand by the monks.
The inner courtyard was peaceful & silent, surrounded by archways.
Museo di San Marco is well worth visiting,
it is situated close to Accademia Gallery and Duomo.

This is a place I love very much. We visited it a few years ago. Lovely. My favourite fresco: Annunciazione by Beato Angelico.

Ein sehr schöner Ort und Kloster. Man spürt die Stille und geht mit Ehrfurcht. Sehr schöne Aufnahmen von dem kleinen Tor als Guckfenster.
