If you put a bit time and effort, after peeling the ripe seed heads of Lunaria annua
you’ll have shiny Silver Dollars!
you’ll have shiny Silver Dollars!
In English:
Lunaria annua, Honesty, Silver Dollar, Moneywort, Moonwort, Penny Flower, or Money Plant
Auf Deutsch:
Garten-Silberblatt, Judas-Silberling, Judas-Pfennig, Silbertaler oder Garten-Mondviole
Näin rumilta ja ruskeilta siemenkodat näyttivät ennen kuorimista.

This is how they look before peeling: brown and ugly.

This carefree and effortless biennial blossoms in May with most wonderful purple flowers.
The first year it makes a big and ugly rosette of leaves that the next spring seems to be almost dead. But no way!
After a while you can admire its beautiful blooming.

We used to have Silver Dollars in our yard (when we owned a home here in Oregon). Lovely pictures and great memories!
VastaaPoistaLovely photos of this plant from flower to seed head. I remember them growing in a former garden and growing them to use in an indoor dried seed head arrangement. We call them Honesty.
VastaaPoistaoh! those silver dollars are gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen them before. And the pinks are so pretty.
VastaaPoistaI had Honesty plants in our garden almost 40 years ago when we lived in UK but haven't seen any for a very long time now, they look so lovely as "Silver Dollars" Love the mosaics you've created this week, thanks for sharing them at Mosaic Monday today.
VastaaPoistaThe Silver Dollar plant is so lovely when prepared as you have done. I've never grown it, but am thinking it would be nice to do so next year, if I remember.
VastaaPoistaThank you all for visiting & commenting 💕
PoistaRiitta, I love the silver dollars dried plant. Nice to have something for a table when winter hits. I have never seen the plant growing only in flower shops. Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Sylvia D.
VastaaPoistaFascinating - I never heard of this before!
VastaaPoistaYes, I too know them as Honesty.
VastaaPoistaSuch lovely flowers, your photographs are gorgeous.
