Maa makaa martaana - Dead Month?

In many languages the English word November is of the same origin:
der November (German), november (Swedish), noviembre (Spanish), novembre (French).
But we here in Finland want to be eccentric and a bit archaic saying - marraskuu!

We use the very ancient word marras which means dead or a mortal being.
The word comes from Latin mors and French mort.
Kuu means month... November so being a DEAD MONTH :)

We say that Maa on martaana or Maa makaa martona
- meaning that the soil / ground / nature is or is lying dead.

Our saying is so right! This is how the scenery looked by the river where I often walk.

But I found this handsome Christmas tree!
Would love to have such in my garden.

Wednesday Around the World

All you in the Northern Hemisphere - have a nice week despite of this 'dead' season!
My greetings to also you lucky ones who have sun & warmth & summer!

Flower Wednesday is breaking the rules this week too!
Feel free to share whatever brings you
JOY & FUN
these dark winter days! No need to be florals.

I myself enjoy a lot playing with photo manipulations.
These duplicate illusions were made with Photoscape - so easy!

Tule mukaan - Come along!

I don't usually have any red but this week I could contribute to Jutta's
Ich sehe rot!

Linkup 1 & the rules.

❤︎ Thank you so much for joining ❤︎

Sparkling Kontinen & Peers!

This week's topic at Makrotex Challenge is SPARKLE.
It sure fits so well for Henri Kontinen & John Peers.
This Finnish-Australian double team won today the Barcley's ATP final!
Yesterday they won the famous Mike & Bob Bryan...
Kontinen & Peers started to play together at the beginning of the year
and success has followed tournament after tournament.
Congratulations!

Andy Murray won the singles title and shall be ATP number one at the end of this year,
Djokovic number two. So the Brits have reason to be happy as well!

Otherwise weeks fly, Christmas is pretty near.
We got a lot beautiful white snow but it has all melted away.
It's dark and grey, so some sparkles come in need....

These odd looking silver and gold sprayed plants are not mine but photographed at a florist :)
